New Dubai bridge opens with capacity to handle 3,000 vehicles per hour
Two-lane structure designed to improve movement during busy periods
DUBAI – The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new bridge connecting Sheikh Rashid Road with 2nd December Street, strengthening road links between some of Dubai’s key areas.
The 1,000-metre bridge features two traffic lanes and can accommodate around 3,000 vehicles per hour, according to the Dubai Media Office.
The new infrastructure is expected to improve traffic movement from Sheikh Zayed Road towards Al Satwa and Jumeirah, while helping reduce waiting times at the World Trade Centre Intersection.
The project forms part of Dubai’s ongoing efforts to expand road infrastructure and improve traffic flow across the emirate. The new connection is designed to provide motorists with a more direct route and support smoother movement along busy corridors.
The additional capacity is also expected to help ease congestion during peak periods and improve connectivity between Sheikh Rashid Road and 2nd December Street.
With Dubai continuing to experience population and traffic growth, road expansion projects remain a key part of efforts to enhance mobility and reduce journey times across the city.
